Temperature Probe

Hi guys,

May I ask if anyone know what is the different between the older temperature probe and the "newer digital" temperature probe ( with a white sensor tip ).

And if the digital sensor probe can be use to measure ambient temperature?

Hi,
Old temp probe is analog and new is digital.
Analog probe can only be use on older GHL hardware likr Profilux 3 or Expansion Box 1 and old PLM-pH-Temp expansion card.
New probe can only be use on Profilux 4, Expansion Box 2, Doser 2.x and new PLM-pH-Redox-DigTemp expansion card.

Analog probe (PT1000 chip) need calibration and digital probe (a DS18B20 chip) is factory calibrated (but can be adjusted of course)

These two probes can work under water and ambiant air but for ambiant air another probe is best and can monitor humidity: Humidiy + Temperature Sensor (PL-0279) but need an expansion card PLM-Humidity-Temp Sensor Input (PL-0278).

Sorry, i forget Profilux mini, of course like new GHL hardware it use new digital temp probe.

Just a caution about digital temp probe, keep the temp.-sensor cable away from potential electromagnetic disturbers (other cables, especially from/to ballasts, pumps, power supplies etc.) to please avoid interferences for the temp.-sensor (cable), this may interfere with the digital data transmission and ake false alarm.

The reason I asked is because GHL halt the Mini terra project due to the low in demand. But i have been waiting for it since they break the news. Since now it’s no longer available. I am planning to see if I can use the analog or the digital probe to measure a terrarium ambient temperature.

Sorry, Profilux Mini CAN'T be use with the temperature/ humidity probe.
Humidiy + Temperature Sensor (PL-0279) only work with expansion card PLM-Humidity-Temp Sensor Input (PL-0278)
Probes not use same plug: BNC vs RJ12.

But I think GHL has scrapped the TERRA mini project due to the lack of demand
