Hey all, so I have an aquatop 24gal, and in the return section I have a pump and my heater, my problem is that my heater is set to 80 degrees Fahrenheit, while my water is 74 degrees. I have been having a temperature difference issues for awhile now. What should I do?

The water in the return section (when I put my hand in it alittle) feels like 80 degrees though

So the heater is set for 80 and the device you are using is measuring it at 74?

Impossible to tell temp with your hand. Nice try....

So what you need to do is find a digital thermometer that is accurate. Ones used for cooking are pretty good. I use an Acu-rite . Then measure your temp. Set your heater so the tank is lets say 78. Your heater might need to set at 82. Does not matter what the heaters temp says, just what the water temp is. Then see how far off your old thermometer is and note that for future ref. If it says 74 and your tank is 78 then it is 4 degrees off.
