I was wondering if anyone has dealt with this problem before. My display on my Finnex heater show the tank at 79 degrees. The display on the Apex shows 78.1 degrees. I noticed since the weather is already warm in CA that the temperature is fluctuating almost 2 degrees in a 24 hour period. What should I set as the on and off temperature on the Apex to keep things from fluctuating? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I had a similar issue. It would never settle, went from 77 - 82 in one day, absolutely ridiculous. When I walked in to it @ 86 one day .... ... Then I realized the heater wasn't shutting off when it was supposed to, apparently it was bad (hope that's not your problem) it was brand new, but once I replaced it I haven't had an issue since.

I have my heater set to turn on at 77.5 degrees and off at 78 degrees. The heater kicks on about once an hour at those settings.

So in my heater configuration I have

Fallback Off
If Tmpx3 < 77.5 Then On
If Tmpx3 > 78 Then Off

The "Tmpx3" would be the name of your temperature probe.

You'll probably find that no two thermometers you stick in the tank show the same temperature. I have a Finnex heater as well and it shows 82 degrees while my apex shows 78 and another thermometer shows 79.

Thanks so much, will try that.

Correct.
The new apex fusion is a lot simpler.
Just choose the temp and tell it when you wabt to have it kicked on and off.

Fallback OFF
If Temp < 77.1 Then ON
If Temp > 78.0 Then OFF

Basicity the same but you don't have to name, just set the numbers.

As for the swing itself, I wouldn't worry at all about a 2* swing in 24 hours --- my Apex is (was) set up for bigger swings than that --- 4-5* if memory serves (( b/t places right now, just a temp tank set up )).

Found an older picture of the graph when my 210 was up and running,
