I have no a/c in my house so it gets just about as hot inside as it does outside. fot the last two days the temp in my tank has climbed to 86 degrees. Any advice on how to keep it down?

put fans on your tank and make sure they blow on the water surface, like 100% for maximum cooling power

Walmart has 6" clip on 2 speed fans for $9.83 that work wonders. Youre evaporation will go up but one fan should easily lower the wate rtemperature 5-7 degrees blowing across the waters surface from side to side.

Chillers are very expensive to buy and to operate. Often they are not needed as I found out once I installed two 120mm computer fans in my canopy and a back up WalMart fan over my sump. Even with 2x250w MH and 2x140w VHO fluorescents in Phoenix AZ in a warm house when we were at work the fans kept the tank at 78-80 degrees with no problem and my 1/4 HP chiller did not run for 2 years so I sold it and never regretted it.

I have the same problem at times what I do is use a tall fan and just aim it at the surface of the water of the tank and cools it down pretty fast ps I think any fan will do just fine as long as it's aiming at the surface
