Tempered glass on custom tanks?

Is it common to have tempered glass on custom tanks? I'm ordering a 3/4" starphire glass tank and the question has arisen. If tempering is done, obviously it's being drilled already but does it effect viewing clarity? Do you temper the bottom, back, view sides? Or some and not others?

Normally only the bottom is tempered. Very few places would have the ability to temper glass after the holes have been drilled.

If they can temper the glass after the holes are cut then I would get everything tempered. There is no reason why you shouldn't.
