Well guys I'm tired of keeping up two tanks and my 75g has fallen into the neglected tank zone. My 14g has been doing great, but it is too small to put any fish in and me be comfortable with their home. My current plan is to turn my 40 breeder QT, into a temporary reef.

I have two juvenile tangs that will need to be re-homed. One Caribbean Blue that's around 4.5" now, and a 3" Lieutenant. I had planed on a much larger tank, but have since decided on a 90g cube for space concerns. I understand my tangs will quickly outgrow the 90g, and are already too large for a 40B reef set up. I really hate having to give up my fish, but I can't keep them. My remaining fish that will be going into the 40B are a pair of Darwin Ocelaris clowns and a six line wrasse.

I won't be drilling this tank, as once I get my 90g cube it will turn back into a QT tank. I'm thinking of using an Eshopps PF300 overflow. I have a 20L with a sump kit installed already, Jebao PP8 power heads and a DCT6000 return pump that will be used from the 75g. The pumps are all overkill for this tank, so I'll have to dial the 6000 back to whatever overflow I end up with. I'll probably get away with just one of the PP8s, they move quite a bit of water.

I have some steel shelving units in the garage, that I believe are 36" x 18", if so I'll use one of those for the stand. The rim on the tank should fit inside the shelf perfectly. I'll cut a piece of plywood and paint it for the bottom. The thin, flimsy particle board shelves will not hold the sump when full. I'm gong to try and use my Kessil A160 for light. I know it won't cover the entire tank, but I can place the rock and corals under the light. If that does not work, I have two 16" SB Reef lights that I can use, altho I do not really care for them.

I'm going to pick up some more living reef rock from the LFS, so I do not have to wait on a cycle and I won't be introducing all the crap I've put that 75g thru. I'm honestly surprised anything is still alive in that tank. I used the same rock in the 14g, and it had no cycle to mention, and has been great. The rock in the 14g will be added as well. I haven't decided on sand or not. I think with my six line i'll have to add sand, but I think he may sleep in the rocks as well. I think I'll use the sand in the nano, and add another bag just to cover the bottom in a thin bed.
