Temporary Filter sock

Yesterday added new dry rock and new water to new 75g setup. Tank is half way full and i notice debris floating in the water. Could be dust and dirt particles from the rock and sand. Will finish filling the tank tonight but, want to filter the drain pipe before particle enter my sump. I will be ordering filter sock soon, but is there anything i can use to filter the system until the proper filter socks get here. Have googled and found people using everything from panty hose to tube socks, any suggestion? Thanks.

panty hose and tube sock will both work to filter debris. You can also buy felt from a store and sew a quick make shift sock.

Agreed. If you can't get a filter sock or filter floss, stockings (pantyhose) will work as will felt from a sewing store (commonly sold at big box stores, too).
