Does anyone in the Cookeville area know of any good LFS in the area? I plan on visiting my sister in October and would like to check out the reef scene (if there is any) while there, and maybe bring home some "souvenirs" on the way home;)

Wow, how do you manage a tank while driving so much? I need to get some time management tips from you lol. I am definitely not the person to give advice for ich though, diseases/pests are not my forte. I am going to refer you to @melypr1985 or @Humblefish. I can't speak for them, but I am sure they can help set you straight:)

Ok thank you very much your very nice even though you live in Pittsburgh lol just kidding!!! About Pittsburg not the nice part!

Haha thank you, I'm assuming you've been to our little 'burgh? We aren't ALL bad lol. It's funny, I was out of town this weekend and not one person tried to run me off the road once I was out of PA. When I picked up my car from the lot it was parked in I was cut off by a car with a PA license plate and a steelers bumper sticker before I even made it out of the lot. So we aren't all bad people, just bad drivers haha.

Yeah I've been there more than enough I sent message to the first person so we will see if they call lol

!*!*!*!*! BUMP !*!*!*!*! for the LFS in the Tennessee area!?!

Only saw two on google:)

In and around Nashville are The Aquatic Critter, Emerald Bay Fish & Reptile, 7Seas Aquatics, and opening in Aug. Oceanside Aquariums.

In and around Knoxville are Aquatic Marine and The Coral Reef ( Sustainable Aquatics Hatchery)

Awesome thank you everyone! I have ever never been to Tennessee, so I will have to look and see where everything is in correlation to my sisters house or our drive home. It will be hard to convince him to take a detour for corals, although I COULD go while he is going to see Coheed because I am skipping that show;)

Aquatic Critter and Emerald Bay are both great, but different. I like going to both for different reasons.

AC is large and has a great selection of FW, SW and corals, they also have a reptile room. They have some wonderful display tanks, and the people there are knowledgeable and helpful. I have been a customer for about 20 years, and since I don't have a RODI unit, and live 5 minutes away, I am in there multiple times a week. I primarily buy my fish from them.

Emerald Bay is a 30-40 minute drive for me, but it's worth it as well. These guys are also very friendly and knowledgeable. They don't have as much square footage (overhead) as AC, and they are saltwater and reptile only. I love going here because I can get a better deal on smaller frags. The other bonus is the owner's mother (I think) owns a curio/knick-knack/thrift store type of shop on the premises and that's fun to walk through as well.

Both are great. Both have strengths and weaknesses. I visit the one nearby and also make the trek to the one 30 minutes away. If my locations were reversed, I could see myself doing the same thing.

Hope that helps.

A bit of a drive from Cookville but Sustainable Aquatics in Jefferson City is one of the leading clownfish hatcheries in the country and worth the visit. They also have a retail store adjacent to their facility called The Coral Reef. I'm willing to bet that if you're coming all the way from PA and ask nicely, Matt (president) at SA would arrange a tour for you. I know they're giving public tours to celebrate the release of Finding Dory or whatever the new Disney film is called.

I would go there before I visit a LFS.

Thanks for all the info! I am also a reptile lover, so both of those sound great! Do you think my husband would kill me if I came home with an iguana? I miss mine like crazy lol

Wow that does sound like fun! I think I may call them up a few weeks beforehand and see about that! Thank you:)

Well AC has two huge iguanas in a corner display and a spectacled caiman that's about 5' long.

Oh that is tempting! Here was my baby.

You can see how big he was when compared to my noggin lol. He was just like one of the dogs, he would follow me around and beg for treats, and he loved to sit on my lap and be petted. I still rarely go into "his" bedroom because it makes me think of him. I don't think another could ever take his place. I got super lucky that he was such a tame rescue. One day I will have a Lewisi hybrid though, but probably not until my son is much older.
