Tenuis death in thriving sps tank.

My friend has a tank full of sps coral and recently all of his multiple tenuis corals started to die, he had not made changes before the deaths, my question is; is there anything that effects tenuis coral specifically while other sps thrive? Wheat could cause this?

They were all mature colonies that had grown in to colonies in the tank.

Any time I’ve had one type of coral start to die off in unison is when I had a pest that liked that particular family of coral or I had a drop in nutrients. Not saying this is the case but any time I had unexpected death on an acro it was because of low nutrients.
