Tenurepro's Redsea Reefer 250

Operation Goby love
- so a month or so ago I ran into my local lfs to check out a fish shipment they just got. I was intrigued by their neon gobies. I ran into @WallyB and we decided to pick up 4 gobies and Wally generously agreed to QT the fish for us... well the fish graduated QT last Sunday and I picked them up and added them to my system
Saw now sign of them since until tonight. Both were reunited in a small little crevice at the bottom of the tank. They are SO cute to watch. The little guy is so adventures, and his big lady friend follows around reluctantly ;) they kept zooming in and out and I out - so much fun to watch. Here are a couple of poor pics - didn’t want to spook them with strong lights yet

Ok spent a productive afternoon reading this thread. I've been having similar challenges with NO3 and PO4 - dosed Neonitrate for a while. The tank looks great and it's interesting to see the balance between thread and youtube. Good luck with the AWC! Ed

So - a couple of quick videos on some new tank equipment and upgrades.
Briefly - setting up an remove automatic water changing system in the basement

Interesting times ahead!

Super quick update.
1) I managed to add two new wrasses that graduated from QT: a pintail fairy wrasse and a carpenter flasher wrasse; added via acclimation box. other fish accepted them but Tiny the chromis was being a bit of a jerk, so i captured him and sentenced him to solitary confinement in the Evo13.5
2) the 2 neon gobies that i added a few weeks ago (QT'ed by @WallyB ) are doing great and exploring a bit. I seem them trying to gobble up tiny bits of frozen when i feed in the morning.
3) A few corals are not happy: ORA voodoo has been declining since the reaquascape a month ago. I kept cutting and re-gluing it. I removed it al all together, cut the healthy tissue in two and moved it to the Evo13.5. Also, pretty much all of my encrusting monti on the top shelf of the tank are dying. This started right after re-aquascape. its a fully out monti apocalypse; not sure what the cause is... i sent water for an ICP test. I dipped a few of the montis to check for pests, but nothing came out. So not what is happening here, but hey... more room for acropora -> see 4 ;)
4) Was at the Greater Niagara Coral show this weekend and picked up a few beauties. a) a nice chunky RR rainbow loom b) a crazy polypy RR Marvin the Martian, and c) a Jason Fox TNT Anacropora. We'll see how they do
5) Waiting to setup the automatic water change system with DOS when i come back from a little trip...
next video update is going to be long!

cheers and happy reefing

Wow, that Pink Cadi has really transformed, the frag I got off your colony a while back doesn't look anything like that.

The Icefire is hanging in there this time and looks better then when you got it.

Nice new frag pickups, and of course the fish are beautiful.

Yeah the pink Cadillac has NEVER looked as good as it does now. I always regretted spending the money on it ($300 about 2.5 years ago - My most expensive frag). It looked really ordinary for the longest time but for some reason or another, it is getting nicer nicer.

Enjoying a bit of a break. Did some diving in the Florida keys; was a sobering experience to swim over a graveyard of stag horn acropora. But there is some hope as researchers and conservation biologists have replanted a lot of frags and many are already at the mini colony stage. Will have a few short clips to share with you in due time. It wasn’t an easy dive with the surge tossing me and the boat as it pleases. 3’ to 5’ waves had me seasick and feeding the fishes 4 or 5 times :(

A few days into my trip, I got results of the ICP test. Shows elevated aluminum, copper and lithium. Will have to troubleshoot that when I get back. Perhaps it’s stuff the seeped out of the dry rock and perhaps it was a bonehead move on my part to just add it in the system without sufficient curing.

Anyways, excited to install the dos and do automatic water changes when I get back. I figure I’ll need to do a substantial water change to get parameters back in check, what better way than to have the dos do it gradually over a week or two.

Be strange if those 3 elements were introduced with the rock... but anything is possible for sure!

Yeah - not sure either. I am also planing to check all equipment in sump and display Incase something is rusting. The good news is that most of the corals in the tank are happy so it clearly isn’t s major issue at the time. But I want to get to the bottom of this in case the situation deteriorates

Sweet! Three days of automatic water changes so far. I’ll share the setup and my triple safety checks to hopefully prevent accidents in an upcoming video

Jealous of the auto water change setup! I'd love to do this on my tank.

Do you have the DOS broke into two changes of 2000ml per day totaling 4000ml a day? Where are you pulling water from the sump and adding the water?
