I'm looking for a new test kit mainly for calcium and alk but im wondering what is a good kit that isn't to expensive

Frankly all the kits are ok. How you use them matters the most. If you think like a lab... the results get better then a rushed and lazy done test.

The red sea combo kit represents good value.

I use Red Sea for cal, mag, alk and it works fine for me. The key is carefully doing the test and consistency when doing it. Also rinsing out the vials in RO water thoroughly and letting them air dry.

What I am doing is buying one Hanna at a time, like every few weeks. They are so much easier than all the other ones, and more accurate.

They are only accurate if you follow the directions carefully with a big dose of common sense. Like they shine light through the vial to do their tests. You have to take care of the vial, clean it, handle it carefully while doing the test, eliminate bubbles inside the tube, all powders have to be fully dissolved, add the right amounts of solutions, add the right amount of saltwater, etc...

One can probably say that tritration is less error prone in some ways.
