What kind of test kit do I need. I have a Petco card so if anyone can point out what test kit is good please let me know.

What are you testing for?

Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate - normally for cycling
KH, Calcium, Magnesium - normally reef tank tests

Correct.. It doesn't matter what test kit I get right ? Are there better one than others ?

I found the api test kit for calcium and a api test kit for ammonia nitrite and nitrate is that ok?

I really like the Red Sea Foundation kit for testing alk, calc and mag

As far as watching your cycle, you really don't need the nitrite test kit unless you want to watch the cycle past through this "stage." For the most part nitrite is not a concern with saltwater fish. The ammonia and nitrate I would suggest so you can see the ammonia dissapear and eventually see the nitrate appear. It's also nice to have the nitrate to monitor the levels in a running tank.

+1 Red sea kits are preferred but API kits are a good entry kit for Ammonia Nitrites and Nitrates.
