I need to test for mag. what do you all use and i like to start with cost effective first, and if adjusting is needed what do i use for mag? also atm using Red Sea and API for alk, cal, phos and copper my biggest headache is converting color to charts and the drops some are read by ppm and CaCO3 and dkh very confuseing is there a company thats does all measuring the same way and are all thier test realiable with them but most important ATM is my MAG thanks in advance and happy new year

I use elos and love it because there's no stupid color chart

Salifert. Super easy. Just bought a new one yesterday.

ok looked at mag pro from redsea mixed reveiws anyone else have promblems with this one checking salifert now

ok how important is it to test for Strontium when doing mag test? understanding that cal and strontium must be in range is this a common promblem?

Don't hear much people testing for strontium. Pretty much just ca. Alk. and mag. I'm sure ere are a lot more elements in water we aren't testing for. One of the perks of using natural sea water. Water changes with quality salt should take care of it.

its said to say i been running my system for a year now an never had to check mag honestly just keep an eye on alk cal and phos once an awhile copper having a very hard time getting help look for info on my own way to much to sort though hoping to get clearity from you all

Mag is the 3rd most used element. Simply put, you can't keep your ca. And alk up if your mag is low. How is copper getting in your tank? Do you find any when you test?

no copper ever but i had some wire fall off my diy leds and took some time to find it so wanted to be sure alk and cal seems to be spot on everytime i check and looking to get more corals so i like to see what mag lvls i been running at

ok went and got mag kit from salifert though marine depot and picked up some tech-m, i hear you all talk about this stuff alot I will let you know how i make out and thanks for the info all please add more on these kits Im also thinking about strodium any and all feed back welcome
