All levels were reading zero and Ph reading 8.3 give or take, i brought a water sample to LFS when i was ready purchase some coral. The man there advised me he was reading some amonia levels and used the same type of test kit, anyone know why this may have happened? Do i need to leave water in test tubes for a longer amount of time before starting the tests? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

If you are using an API I would just wait a few days and test again. The color card method has a 5% to 10% error rate built in.

Also ammonia is mostly in the ammonium in a salt water tank and as long as your PH is above 8.1, isn't even all that toxic to fish.....at low levels that is.
