Hello,

For Alk, Ca & Mg what do you guys/gals are using that is easy to use and results are acceptable at levels/some what accurate?

Thanks :)

Hey hey! Hmm, I've been pretty successful with Red Sea's test kit. There's one they provide w/ all three. Got mine at a decent price.

For alkalinity I use a Hanna checker, but I also have a salifert test kit to use as a back up if the Hanna checker gives me some wild number that it possibly can't be. (I test Alkalinity daily)

Calcium I prefer the Red Sea test kit. I also have the Hanna checker, without an auto pipette it's worthless (IMO). With one it is pretty nice. Though I seem to have gotten a rotten batch of reagents which dissuaded me from using it anymore. (I test weekly)

I like Salifert's Mg test kit, very easy and clear result.

Saliferts NO3 test is good, (I test daily)

I use a Hanna ULR checker for PO4, but have a Red sea test kit as a backup (and a low range hanna checker too). (I test daily)

Best Potassium test of the bunch is the Salifert, hands down. Easiest to read a correct number and doesn't take 15 mins like Red sea's test kit. The Korallen Zucht potassium kit is very difficult to read accurately.

Would like to try out Hanna. The titration method like Salifert sometimes I am having a hard time using it =(
