I'm over the API test kits I feel the numbers never change. I already ditched the Nitrate and calcium test kits and got the Nyos test kits for them. I'm wondering what kits you guys use for ph, alkalinity, ammonia, and magnesium?

I use APEX for pH, Red Sea for ALK, cal, mag, NO3, Hanna ULR for PO4 and Alk

RKE for pH (API to spot check if I need to recalibrate), Red Sea for Ca+, Mg+ and ALK (although my Alk test doesnt get to pink/red only orange), Hanna PO4 and Alk. Future Hanna ULR, and maybe Ca+, so much easier to use. But definitely would keep a back up. Wouldn't mind the trying out the NYOS kits either.

Elos for pH, hanna for alkalinity and phosphate, salifert for nitrate and magnesium, red sea for calcium

I absolutely love my Nyos kits for calcium and Nitrate just wish the had more than just the cal, trates, Mag, and phos.

Scratch what I said here I found more of their kits just not on the site I order from. Gonna have to see if BRS will ever carry more.

As far as commercial test kits go: Salifert for Alk, Ca, Mg & Nitrate. ELOS Phosphate Pro for PO4.

I recently got some Hannah checkers for alkalinity and PH. Tests results in like two minutes for dKH and less than a minute for PH AND a digital readout. I highly recommend them.

Red Sea had a batch where they didn't add as much dye as normal. Doesn't affect results if you just watch for the color change. Call Red Sea and they should ship you a new ALK bottle.

pH should be by meter if you measure it, not by kit. pH kits cannot be easily checked for accuracy.

I've got the Hannah checker for alk and ph and redsea for Mag. Now I'm just wondering what kit is best for ammonia?

I use Red Sea for just about everything, and it has been accurate to the T and stays that way. I've owned everything but the Hanna checkers (too expensive to me) and Red Sea is BY FAR the best and i'm OCD with the stuff LOL

Mine is similar to 120Reefkeeper

Ammonia = API...I bought a Seneye about 2 months ago...haven't used it yet...not sure if I want to use it on my display or QT
Nitrite= API
Nitrate = Salifert
Phosphate= Hannah ULR
Ca= Red Sea
Alk = Hannah
Mg = Red Sea

Here's my test kit collection...I find the titratation tests a bit tedious, but with the mini-stirrer its a bit more tolerable...

Salifert has been consistent for the last 12 years for me. And they're pretty cheap!
