TEST: New Like System

We're playing with a NEW Like system. We will be adding and taking away different types of like. Help us choose which ones to keep and which ones to get rid of. Also would love some ideas for good likes that would fit our site and what graphics would best fit our site.

So I added a clownfish that will be for caring. This was just a test.

I was thinking maybe a hammer for a like for good DIY threads and posts?

Maybe we need one for those that help with good sick fish posts, etc...

What ideas do you have? Remember we'll need an idea for the actual graphic as well.

I would like to change some of the icons to fishy type stuff as well as edit or add some that best fits are forum.

Maybe a PHOTO icon for stellar photos!

It doesn't work with Tapatalk if that's what you're wondering. Nothing works well with tapatalk.

I like these but don't like these. remind me too much of Facebook but I do agree there times you want to do more then just 'like' a post/comment

More options! You can have too many though, I think the default ones aren't that great personally. But I like to be able to rate things like funny, useful, disagree, "oh no!" etc instead of just Like. Kind of like how you don't necessarily want to Like someone's post about something bad that happened.

Do we have one for "thanks" yet? That would be good. Also, we'll either need a guide for what they mean or they'll need to be checked for intuitiveness. The wrench makes me think I should hit it when the person needs to go back and work on their post some more (fix typos, etc.)

Agreed! I like the options but can see too many being "too much" and slightly confusing.

The agree button is my favorite. Please don't remove. 90% of the time I like a post I am really just agreeing with them. Unless they post a photo then my like means "hey cool photo" ;p

I also agree there can be too many and it could get confusing.

Would all of these add to our "likes received"? I just got a new "like" to one of my posts and it didn't seem to add to my total count. it was a regular thumbs up.

IMO,

Agree, disagree, nice, and award would cover it.

You can use them pretty much in the same cases and have people know what you mean, I feel like.

Anything above that is a bit too convoluted, although I really like the idea of expanding it.

Just my .02, again I really LIKE the idea!

Perhaps count all but disagree as a like?

There are a lot of options for things like the value (positive, neutral, negative) and way to show that (go look at your profile, you'll see that...). We use this on GIRS and I leave any potentially negative ratings like "disagree" or "dislike" as just "neutral" value (zero)

Personally, I just like the simple "like" option. All the other stuff seems pointless to me. And I go back and forth on the "disagree" or dislike ones just because they add negativity.
