My tanks been up for less than a week, gut at the LFS said to test Sunday when I asked and got rock on Thursday, and when I did nitrate, nitrite, ad ammonia is at 0??? But my ph is too low, but the kit also has a suggestion on what to use to bring it up. I just don't get the 0's??? I thought it was supposed to have a spike in one, the a spike in the other??? Help :squigglemouth:

To make sure we understand you added the rock about a week after you filled it with water? If so, you'll need to add something like a shrimp from the grocery store to help get the cycle started...then you'll see everything spike.

Yes he means a raw, dead shrimp from the butcher counter. The decaying shrimp will cause bacteria to form and the process will get started. You haven't waited long enough either. It can take anywhere from two to four weeks before you will see anything on a test. Even then it varies widely on how much of a spike you will see. If you do put a shrimp in there, put it where you can reach it later on. You will probably want to take it out at some point.
