Im currently using the API test kit

I heard that this test is not super accurate

I was looking into purchasing a hanna calcium checker but heard that those are a pain.

Which do you recommend?

Thanks for reading

I use a hanna calcium checker and love it. I found using rodi instead of distilled (as instructed) will give you a large margin for readings. Since using distilled water and following the instructions properly, my readings are exactly where I want them with very little fluctuation. Yes there are quite a few steps involved but having a digital reading as opposed to matching colors is priceless. Especially for calcium, which has a large margin for error before any negative effects are seen.

That's because, IMO, it is poorly designed, being hypersensitive to tiny traces of calcium in the blank.

I've tried the hanna and I didnt like it. It uses a tiny sample size, something like 0.1 mL of tank water, which can lead to huge errors. I use the red sea calcium test. The color change is pretty easy to detect and and I like the single hand shaker titrator
