Testing equipment

I am not good of looking at shades of colors. What would be the best and reliable digital option out there? Idip, Hanna?

Hannah has been the best for me personally. The alk, calcium, and copper checker I have personal experience with.

The Hanna Alk and Phosphate/Phosphorous are rated very high by users. The iDip less so. I haven't used iDip but I think the Hanna Alk was one of the best test equipment purchases I made.

Alk, Phosphate/Phosphorous, pH, Salinity won't be an issue with combinations of Hanna, Milwaukee, Pinpoint, etc.

Ca and Mg tests are color changing titrations rather than shading. I personally find Aquaforest to be the best at definitive color changes.

Nitrates you're stuck with shading, color can very...NYOS is yellow I believe where Red Sea is Pink so maybe one is better than other for you.

Everything else, send out to ICP once every 6 months or so.

I use Hanna for Alk, Copper and Phosphate. I also use a Milwakee for salinity. That's the end of my digital gear.

For CA, Mg & Nitrate I haven't found any digital testers with a good reputation like the ones listed above. I use Red Sea for all of these and they're pretty annoying... CA goes from pink too purple to blue and the purple -> blue takes some getting used to.

I've heard the gradations of Yellow on the Nyos Nitrate kit are easier to read that the pink from others... just ordered one but haven't received it yet to have any comment

Get a cheap magnetic stirrer for your test kits. It really makes it easier all around. I t even makes it easier to see the colora changes since they're much more drastic

Literally any of the ones on Amazon are fine. Just get a magnet that is short enough to fit inside your test tubes.

How about Apex Trident? Will it test all for me?

I used to have Idip like 4-5 years ago which test everything including nitrates but the product was still not fully developed.
