Should I be purging my syringes when I fill them? My saliferts say don’t purge but my Hanna master kit says nothing on the subject? Also should I be filling cuvettes to the top of the white line with the meniscus or to the bottom of the white line? Thansk!

Do not ever purge gas from syringes. Docs only do that to avoid air bubbles in blood. A syringe used for volume measurement will have air in it, but ignore it and only look at the travel of the plunger end.

The exact water volume is not critical in a Hanna test, but measure from the liquid level in the bulk of the liquid, not the meniscus that can run up or down the wall.

The line on the cuvettes can vary. I use the 5 ml syringe from a Salifert kit.

As has been said, the 10ml mark on the Hanna cuvettes varies on placement. I use a 10ml syringe to fill and disregard the mark altogether.
Yep, I do this also. I use a glass Sibata 10mL pipette with a pipette pump.

Heck, I don't even use their 1mL syringe; more accurate to use a dropper. 20 drops = 1mL
