Hey folks,

I have the RedSea test kit and I’m wondering if I’m doing something wrong. I’m following the directions as stated yet the results seem off. Picture 1 is my cycling tank, Picture 2 is a control sample from my RO/DI water. Any tips?

Which result are you questioning, the one from the cycling tank or the RODI?

I’m wondering if one is misleading the other. The RODI should be closer to 0 or yellow, which makes me wonder if the cycling water is showing lower than it actually is.

What do you think they read?

The top picture looks like it reads .8 to me.
The bottom picture looks like it reads 0 to me.

If I am reading your initial post correctly, the top picture is the cycling tank and the bottom is your RO water. If that is the case, the test results seem good to me.

I'd say you have .8 ppm in the tank and 0 on the RODI. I have never seen anything close to the 0 color on the Red Sea card and I have tested my tank several times and RODI water. I don't have another kit on hand, but have had Seachem Ammonia badges in the same water that read 0 with the same color you show on the Red Sea kit.
