Hey everyone. I’m starting to get overwhelmed with trying to get my levels on point and constant. I’m using api test kit also Hanna and salifer test kit. I went one of my lfs and got similar readings, and when I went to a different lfs I got a completely different reading. What should I do because I don’t want to add if I don’t need to

How accurate do you want to be?

API is garbage that had success getting their product of the shelf for cheap with PetSmart, Petco with FW consumers. Put API in the garbage can

Salifert and Hanna will get you +/- 5% of the true # if you are using unexpired reagents AND are performing the steps exactly properly

Salifer I’m getting 8.5 Alk Hanna 8.7 checked around 7:30pm for 3 days got same readings on both every day. The one lfs same reading the other lfs is getting 6.9 same on the magnesium I’m getting 1470 salifer the lfs is getting 1300. So who do I go off of the lfs that’s getting around the same number or the other that’s has different number?

There are always going to be slight differences between brands of hobby test kits, but some are better than other.

Apart from API, stick to what your cumfortable with using, and follow the instruction, repeat tests should be done the same way every time.
