Testing light levels with out a meter

okay this might be a stupid question. But how do I figure out the par for my lights with my tank? I don't have a meter or anything.

Sometimes the LFS will rent/loan a par meter out to customers. Or a local club may do the same.

I havnt used them, but was looking around when I was being impatient waiting for my name to come up for the club meter.
