I do zero water changes on my systems and realize this method will require me to dose Trace elements. Are there Hanna checkers for this or will I have to use reagent testing? What Trace elements of any should I use beside iodine and strauntium? Does anyone know of good sensors for detecting Trace elements. This is really the last area of understanding or hobby that is a complete mystery to me and concrete evidence seems very scarce.

You can dose the Red Sea Trace Color's program to your calcium's intake per their guidelines, and they also have test kits.

A lot of reefers have been liking this 2 part + trace, dosing product.

Doing ICP reports would be a great way.

There are a whole gamut of trace elements: iron, cobalt, nickel, molybdenum and so on. Useful hobby grade test kits don’t exist for most of them. I have heard ICP’s testing accuracy is suspect.

I have heard that many people to aquaculture SPS corals rely on brute force water changes for trace element replacement.

The other approach is to add a trace element mix based on Calcium consumption. And there are a number of products out there for this. And people have reported success using them.
