I ordered a new product-- textured plugs to try out. I am thinking the texture will make it easier to glue and for the zoa's to grip. I allready know from useing the normal smooth plugs once the zoa's get growing on the natural calcium based sand they take off in growth. Only thing I did not like was it seemed the glue did not want to adhere well or after a couple weeks the glue would sometimes seperate from the disk. Now they might have the combination for the ultimate plug.
No offense to Eden's clay ones, I bought hundreds of them and are my current favorite plug.

I could not tell you since I have never used Baf plugs. It seems from research only difference is these are alot larger "1 1/4" and are made completely with the reef sand mixture other than a layer of sand Baf says it uses. I allso like how they are white instead of cement grey.

Same size peg as their smaller 7/8 version and the 7/8 inch baf uses just a bigger platform.

I have never had any problems with the glue seperating from the ceramic plug.......are you using the old style plugs or the new ones. I think the new ones are textured a lot better. And if size is a concern there is also a bigger ceramic disk with a peg. It is just under 1.5". The ceramic plugs coraline up as fast as any aragocrete plug I have used. I just made a bunch of frags when I transferred my tanks over. That was only a couple weeks ago and they already have coralline one them.

I had some of the "sand plugs" sent to me and they are brittle and crumble after a short time in my tank. I didn't think there was any comparison. I like the ceramic ones. I am biased of course since I make the ceramic ones. But if I thought the concrete plugs were better I would just use those. They are cheeper and easier to make than the ceramic ones.

I was talking about the glue seperating and not sticking well to the oceans wonders sand plugs. Now they have this extra texture maybe they fixed this problem. Also wrote in the original post Eden's clay "meant ceramic" are my current favorite.

Gooch are you making the plugs Eden's sales or just make them for yourself?

I guess I read that wrong. I am always looking for feedback on the plugs and was suprised when I read the glue wasn't sticking to the plug. I have found the glue sticks better to the plug than it does to the coral in some cases.

Yes, I make the ceramic plugs for Larry. I use to sell them myself but I just got to busy with other things. I asked a couple of online guys to sell them for me. The bigger disk with the peg is actually something Larry asked me to make. The smaller plug is still the most popular. I like the disk for zoanthids. I also like to lay my sps corals flat instead of straight up and down and the disk gives me more space to encrust.

I also make the frag stations, donuts and big uns. I also have a few other projects in the works. My entire 600 gallon system will use only this material as a base. No liverock and no sand.

If anybody has feedback or would like me to change something let me know. I am not always able to do it but I do try. I do want to put out a plug that people like.

I am glad the ceramic ones are your favorite.
