Price is decent, but they are sold in small test tubes with only about 50ml. I recommend starting 250ml at most and gradually increase volume as it colors up. I use glass erlenmeyer flasks and very low aeration.
Make sure you add silica. I use f/2 and a silica additive from florida aqua farms, but I've used super cheap "water glass" successfully in the past.
*edit*: thal is not tolerant of high par, especially at start so use low light
