Thank you! Vaseline on Skimmer Cup

I don’t know who to actually thank for this, because I can’t find the post, but I wanted to put it out there:

Thank you to whoever suggested a small rim of Vaseline on the skimmer cup lid to pop the bubbles, and prevent overflow. I just dosed chemiclean, and it’s working like a charm at preventing foam from coming out the lid. Thank you so much.

Wow, with ChemiClean. I'll have to remember that trick. If it's that good they should put it on the instructions. Does it work the whole 48 hours?

It’s been almost 24 hours, and it’s still working, though I might add a little more later today. I only added the thinnest little layer, and I don’t want it to wear off.

This is on an Eshopps HOB skimmer, so if it overflowed, I’d have a real mess on my hands (and potentially an electrical fire).

Right now, I just have the drain outlet running back into the tank. It’s working great.

I so badly wish I could! I used every permutation of search terms I could think of. It was just some off the cuff comment someone made, so I can’t recall what thread it was from. One of the downsides of being on this site so often. Harrumph.
