Hi everyone. I'm excited to be joining Reef2Reef, and I've already had so many responses to my beginner questions. So I'll start by saying a big thank you for being such a welcoming community!

I grew up with freshwater aquariums in the 1990s as my parents were "allergic" to furry pets. (At least, that was the story -- I think three kids kept them busy enough!) My first saltwater aquarium was in 2009. I found out very quickly that a college kid strapped for cash wasn't going to get very far in this hobby, so unfortunately that didn't last long. I tried again in 2013, but now the problem wasn't the cash, it was the constant work travel required to earn it. Ten years later, the stars have aligned, and I've got that magic combination of money + time, plus a level of patience that I didn't have in my 20's.

I'm still figuring things out. I'm going to start with the basics and hopefully in a couple of years move into a 120-180 gallon mixed reef tank.

Right now, I've got a 20 long cycling and hoping to add a clownfish in a couple of weeks. And then we'll be off to the races!

Thanks, again. Really, I mean it.

Welcome to R2R! I've been a member of several reefing forums over the years and IMHO R2R is the most welcoming, friendly and informative of the lot, by far. It is also a really well-designed forum. R2R has played a huge part in rekindling my passion for reef tanks. Enjoy!
