That agonizing moment...can you relate?

Haha dextereef I feel you on that....tryin' to float my bags or drip out of sight, waiting until the wife notices my new buys in tank: "that's pretty I've never noticed that before, Me: "oh I just moved that up, I have to acclimate it to the light first" or "it's been hiding, it just is now getting used to the tank". Oh well, it's a little better than doing drugs I guess, but I'm starting to think it's not any cheaper.

I always look way into the tanks at the stores for the weirdest things and the guy always says "you want that? It's been in there for months". That actually makes me feel better about my choice, I hate newly delivered fish/inverts/corals, they are always the most difficult or unknown for me.

Also, good thing I have unlimited data on my phone, I look everywhere I can for info in the store if I have no idea or I don't trust the people helping me. I'm new so there's a lot for me look up= lots of data use
Agreed- liking stuff no one else likes gets you really good things/deals!

I'm totally the dude that goes in knowing at least one item that I want. My thought process is always, " I know they have it (because I called or emailed the shop) and I will just run in and grab it and get out. 1-2 hours later I have to sneak back in the house with my 3-5 bags of water!

I love shopping online as I can peruse a catalog at my leisure. My wife, who rarely has anything super positive to say when I get a box that says "live fish" on it, did compliment Unique's blue boxes and I have to admit they did look pretty good compared to a regular dirty brown one. Hope everything is going well with the new venture.
Thanks- Johnny Ciotti, Joe and I schemed up the concept for those boxes and we think they are...well- unique. As for the new venture...We have a killer logo but no need for "live fish" boxes just yet!

I was agonizing today as a matter of fact. Agonizing that when I called a LFS in Chicago, one in St Louis and one in Indianapolis they didn't have what I am looking for. I missed my opportunity to agonize some more over what else to get, because you know you can't drive 2 1/2 hours only to get one item, that just don't make no reefer sense. Oh well, the $$$ will wait to be spent another day, LIKE TOMORROW!

Yeah, it's like "This money IS BURNING A HOLE IN MY POCKET!!!" LOL There is always another coral, right? :)

Sometimes i make my way to the stores knowing exactly what im looking for. BUT......but, there are days i think, im just gonna stop in and check out what they have. I tend to get that "look" from my boyfriend when i bring something unexpected home. So my favorite process is to take him with me. He can be way worse than myself. (In which i benefit) i have only been in the hobby for about a year. It all started by me telling him i wanted a large (50 or more) freshwater tank. I have been found of fish tanks for many years. He hates freshwater tanks and thinks they are boring, so he decided i was going to do saltwater. (I originally told him i did not want salt because i had had no experiance with it.) So now, i turn it on him when he tries to be mad at me for buying things. I also like to turn the table and tell him, yeah, we need this or that to help with this or that for the reef. Such as grazing fish and such. Ive won so far. Lol

I have also aquired most of my coral frags from an lfs that has no clue what they where selling, so it would either be extemely cheap, or if it was in ill health. Nothing dying and rotting, but items that i can see are clearly unhappy at the store. Such as dull frags if maze coral. I get them home, start doing target feeding with them at the lowest level in my tank, and next thing i know theybare puffed, happy and fat looking and coloring back up from starting to bleach out.

I'm on an anxiety med due to my fibromyalgia (the constant pain causes it), and I've learned to hold off on the dose until just before I leave for the fish store. I think much more clearly that way XD
But yes, once there I tend to show the decision-making ability of a drunk squirrel on the highway.
