Thanks for your support:)! I have tried bottles several nights and a length of pvc. I tried filter floss in the bottle too and it was removed from the bottle. He is definitely interested in sardines so as a last ditch effort, I will try pantyhose. First time I have ever bought pantyhose! I saw him getting in the bottle one night, but I don't think he comes all of the way out of his burrow. I have everything and may as well do a rip clean while I am at it, I am going to replace the sand bed too. I assume these guys live solitary lives? Or do I need to inspect the rocks also? He appears to burrow in the sand and hopefully he will stay there.

Good luck

I am glad that I picked up those shoulder length gloves and a bottle of Jack Daniel’s for that artificial courage! Just kidding on the Jack, I will need to have lightening quick reflexes:)!

edit because I dropped my iPad and didn’t finish typing. Off to a good start already!

Ok after seeing the pictures you have a full fledge fish eater there, definitely a bobbit and hes going to be over 3ft long. He will be tangled up in your rock work so you may even split him in half when you start pulling rocks. Heres a video on what to expect.

yeah people underestimate how easy it actually is to split them, but if you have collected nightcrawlers at night you get the technique to get the worms out properly

just wear those gloves if you are concerned of a nip, even cotton gloves should work fine, and hold firm but pull gently , then if he does not come give him a TINY amount of slack and resume the gentle pull

Pulled this guy out of my tank couple years back. He was almost 3 foot long. Kept him for few months in his own tank few him pellets and gave home pvc pipes to live in with no rock and bare bottom. Eventually wanted to give him away and no one would take him. This was before I was on r2r tho. One thing I will say is I spent a lot of time with him watching him and feeding him. What a cool creature. Mine was not shy. I will say he did not have huge claws in his mouth like that video of the large worm catching fish. At least I never seen them but in that video looks like that worms mouth claws was always out. So I would assume there is a few different species that exist and get that big
Edit : he would also stand up in the water column like a cobra btw

only a couple very active predators have continuously visible fangs, most have much smaller jaws that stay recessed in the mouth
