Finally found the build forum, no idea why it took so long to find lol.

First off we have the original 125. This is run off a Fluval FX4 and Marine LED of the same brand. Current plan when cycle completes is to setup as a mixed reef though it will primarily be a Leather/Softie mix until we upgrade her to RL90s like the upstairs setup. In addition it runs a 300w Jager heater, a 3rd gen Koralia power head, and another power head I forget the brand of. LR wise it has 150lbs roughly and is currently home to a Red Star that was given to us as a freebie from the guy we bought 300lbs of LR from, a Occelaris Clown, and a Vlamingi Tang who will be moved to the 600 gallon planned for the downstairs in a few years. So far it is cycling well with .5 ammonia, .25 nitrite, and 20ppm nitrate that was caused when the LR was introduced a week ago. Like the second one I am going to post we did fall for the "Its an instant cycle." from our LFS using Fritz Turbo, and unfortunately I had been out of the hobby long enough I believed them given after a week our levels were balanced. Fortunately though we have closely monitored it and livestock has been doing well in both tanks.

Diatoms! Hers seems to be doing alot better so far than mine, which is funny to me since mine has the sump and all the hookups for running an SPS dominant tank later.

Now for the upstairs Tank. This one runs a Eshops refugium style sump, 2 3rd gen Koralia powerheads with a wavemaker controller, x3 RL90 Red Sea LEDs, and a Xyclone skimmer with plans to move it to the downstairs once it has broken in and replace with a reef octopus.

Current Livestock:

1 Blue Hippo Tang
1 Ocellaris
x5 Azure Damsels exiled to sump
1 Stone crab exiled to sump
1 Mantis Shrimp exiled to sump
5 large bundles of cheateo (I give up spelling it...)
Hermits

And last but not least, Smart Plugs installed so we can shut down the filtration during phyto feedings, and the upstairs can shut down the wavemaker as well for times when anemone feeding needs to happen, all at the push of a button or via alexa!

The upstairs 125 has a refugium built into the sump but no plans for a DSB given they can become nitrate factories given enough time. Instead I have it loaded with macro and then other macros that are growing well in the display. Reactor wise I plan on setting up a calcium reactor & Algae scrubber when its ready for SPS, though to be honest any reactor I can will probably get installed given I like to get crazy with builds and have already bookmarked several others lol.

For Gulf rock it is harvested off the coast of Tampa at an aquaculture site/area leased from the government. They started about 15 years ago by buying large quantities of dry rock which they take there, drop off, then harvest as it matures so the rock you get is on average 6 - 10 years submerged due to the rotation they do. From there it is put in water on the boat, then again during transit to their warehouse in Tampa, and kept in water there. When it is shipped it is done via air freight and we paid the extra to have it overnight (300lbs). We opted for simply sealed bags and damp towels during shipping but one our next build I plan to have him fully submerge it during shipping which he offers as well given we did have some curing. Overall I would say I have not seen the amount of diversity and life on the rock available from an LFS as I have gotten off this, and it is doing well, even the sea squirts! It cam loaded with macro, sea squirts, clams, gorgonians, sponges, and even a mantis shrimp and stone crab which I moved to my sump.

Hi,

Loving the rock work. Have to say that because I did my 75 with gulf. I had mine shipped in water. I set my tank up right away and stocked it. Never went thru a cycle. cant Wait to see the 600

So recent development, Did you have any issues with Cirolanid isopods? Both tanks have cycled well and look wonderful, but I have confirmed one in the downstairs tank responsible for taking out a Mimic Tang and Ocellaris, and this morning I am pretty sure I briefly saw one on my foxface in the upstairs tank. Ive heard there seems to be alot on the Gulf Rock and were thinking about doing a complete rebuild on both tanks.
