Lots of people have a build thread, but this is an unbuild. We adopted 3 more kids and I am going to turn this family room into another bedroom, so the tank has to come down. I have a 225G in my fish room up and running, but it will take me 6-9 months to fully move over. I was going to try and take some photos of the move since not too many folks do this.

Current tank - 25.5x26x84 Oceanic from the late 1980s. 3x250w HQI 14k Phoneix, 2x150w HQI 14k Phoneix, 300-400lbs of marshall island and fiji live rock, Euroreef 12-2 skimmer, Laguna Return, Medusa, Korallin 10000 CaRx, Tunze Wavebox, Tunze 6100s still going strong. Fish: Watanabei Pair, Bellus Pair, Lamarks pair, Sargassum trigger, Foxface (gotta go, too big), purple tang, yellow tang, chocolate tang (my favorite), longnose butterfly, few leopard wrasses, few YT Blue damsels, flameback angelfish and some more that I am forgetting. I have a pair of cucumbers and 4 or 5 conchs. Current parameters: .1N, .01P, 7.1 alk, 420-425 calcium, 78 degrees and no idea about anything else. Even with this low of N and P, you can see some cyano in there... it is quite common. My full-time job is scraping coralline - the green on the middle bottom is green coralline and covers the sand like epoxy.

New tank - 28x28x72 Deep Sea (plywood bottom), 3x250w Radium on M80, 2x6' Super Actinic VHOs, Medusa Dual Phase, 250-300 lbs of live rock, RO with Sicce Pump (current ER will end up on here as well, Laguna Return, Korallin 3000 CaRx, AquaMedic 20.1 Pumps (too strong). I might use 10K Hamilton on this tank, but they are VERY strong on M80s.

I have a 120G frag tank and another 240 up and running, but it is jammed full to the brim.

Rebooted this tank just over a year ago - Valentines Day 2017. Started with acropora frags, a single Utter Chaos Zoa and a hunk of Leng Sy. About half of the acropora went in in June/July. There are some hitchhiker palys and rastas around that are unintentional. I already took out some larger colonies of Pearlberry and some others that I really like.

I really wish that I could have seen the next year in growth... the first year is always the slowest. I am reasonably happy for one years of growth on some stuff and nineish months on the rest.

I am testing the gyre for the new tank - so far, I hate it and like the Tunze a lot better.

It is going to be hard to say goodbye...

That is a beautiful tank and will definitely be hard to say goodbye. Good luck with everything and congrats on the new children.

Its hard to let go of a beauty full tank like that but you will be rewarding for what you are doing. Its by far more important to have a bedroom for your loved ones than a tank. Congrates on your new children. I salute you for what you are doing

Wow, people such as you are amazing.... Blessings for your changes in your life! Since I am dealing with just two biocubes I'm enjoying marveling at your amazing tank!
