These are few pics of the start of the build. Tank, where the tank is going to be, boxes of sand and rock from reef rock.

using the fusion is a good idea. i hope it holds for you.

are you worried at all about the phosphates leaching from the macro rocks? I have read numerous threads were people have pre-treated the rocks for a month or so before using them because of the amount of phosphate bound inside

here is a good thread about it Pukani Rock leacing PO4 like mad - Reef Central Online Community

He's using aragonite based rock. I doubt it will leach very much, if any. My son just used 50lbs in his tank and it hasn't leached anything so far.

Thanks Joey. Im sure I will need plenty help. I am waiting on the guy to build the stand now, I still have to get pumps and stuff but I am getting close......I just put a little paint to put a little tint to the rocks to keep from being so white looking. I know algae will cover them up before too long I just want don't like the look of all white stacked up.lol. These are the reefrocks. Very good price and got sand free with rock purchase, just had pay shipping on it.

I was going to build the stand but I want it to look like the kitchen cabinets so im letting the guy that made them make it. Going to just do skeleton for little while until I get it the way I want it then he is going to skin the outside and make my other cabinetry.

Using paint like that is scary. Did you read somewhere that someone else has done this?

Painting the rocks will fill all the micro holes in it that allows the bacteria to colonize inside the rock making it far less effective.

I put very light mist on the rocks. Just to knock down the white some. Very little paint. I could paint the whole 200 pounds with one can!! I plan to soak them several days in water before putting any in the tank. I am only painting some of them not the whole lot. Have 200 pounds and 75 pounds of rubble also. Also plan to ad 50 or more pounds of live rock when start the tank. Should that be ok? Or should i not mist any of the rocks?? Just wanted to knock the bright white down some.

So you haven't read or seen anyone do this before? I would seriously reconsider using that rock. I would just really hate to see you spend all this money and time on the build to have something like paint crash the whole tank.

Id have to pass on painting the rock as much money as we invest in these systems I couldn't take the chance my self. ALWAYS REMEMBER Nothing good comes fast in this hobby. Let the white be white it will be gone before you know it and it will look the way it should. Not only that but it will give you more peace of mind.

I did a lot of searching and people have used it with no ill affects. Just wanted a little more natural looking color.
