Not that I needed any convincing but the Blue Friday event seemed as good a day as any to start my desktop build.
Ended up getting the Penmini 25 from Waterbox even though it might be a tad too heavy for the standing desk to lift
.
Decided to go skimmerless for this system but I might change my mind. I upgraded to the Sicce silent 1.0 and its... silent? but it vibrates the desk enough that it's noticeable.
Some of the gear includes:
Sicce 1.0 return
Nero 5 PH
AI Prime 16 HD w/ flex arm
deutto ATO
intank media basket chamber 1 w/ filter floss & biomedia from my WB 60 frag
2 50W eheim heaters
Red Sea mesh top.
I knew it was going to be awhile for it to come (ordered Nov 6 arrived Dec 20) so I cycled the rock in a QT tank I had dry in storage until I could set the tank up which was last Sunday. I ghost fed the tank and added some bio balls from my established tank and let it go.
I wasn't sure if I wanted to blast lights right away but nevertheless I ended up adding a few LPS and a mushroom to have something to look at and my pink streaked wrasse moved over today from my main tank. I am comfortable enough that ammonia will stay in check with my seneye to monitor, a seachem ammonia badge and plenty of rock and bio balls from my established tank. I will probably take it slow in adding any new fish or inverts for awhile to let the new rock establish.
Used BRS ai prime LPS schedule and dialed it down to 70%. These are my seneye readings for PAR:
