The Angel Lovers Thread

Is there a specific food that a eibli angel can't resist? I have one, and pretty too. except it has taken a liking to my corals. I have tried my clear box trap, a net at feeding, with no luck. It's no dumb fish by any means. It's in a fully stocked 150 reef tank. The fish are fed 2 times a day. I knock on the galss, it leaves, then comes right back to picking. With a look like "hah! you ain't gonna do nuttin". Any Ideas?? THANKS!!! And IF its someone local, I'll give you the dang thing. I just don't want to tear my tank apart.

The flames from what my local friends have found comes down to breeding stock. IE inbreeding cutting the genetic diversity making the fish weaker over a span of a few broods. The same for the other angels. also if they are open water aquired the manner of catching and artificial ocean acclimatization can shorten there life span/ hardyness.

For myself I keep a lemon peel, coral beauty, keyhole and a Elbi.

My Elbi loves the LRS reef frenzy. I got mine to start eating by using a filter feeder formula with gold pearls in it.

My only angel.

Do you have or would you put a Blue Angelfish (Holacanthus bermudensis) in your tank ? Reasons why ? I've read that they can eat coral but I've seen lot of people with angels in full reefs. I'm sure it's just a matter of time until they do. I hesitantly picked one up and it is now in my frag tank. It's such a beautiful fish but don't want to drop him in the display were I couldn't get him back out. Any thoughts ? Advice ?

Personally if i still had a 300g I'd take the risk. They are with caution just like many other angels 4 of which I have. Also even though some folks have had bad dealings with them it will always be hit and miss. I had a Blue Girdled for 5 years with leathers and LPS. Never had an issue or a nip.

Also Rookie J if you feed them to meet there needs it should help curb the nip erges. Some are omnivorous I use new era grazer along side LRS reef frenzy. I feel alot of nippingg is just them looking for something that's missing from their diets. The better thats met the better they will act.

My new juvi P. maculosus (the one in the PVC tube). He's super shy so the only way to photograph him is to set up the camera to video, and walk away from the tank :)
