The Angel Lovers Thread

Thanks everyone for your input on the flame angel.

I've decided to just get a coral Beauty angel fish. It's presently in my quarantine tank.

One other question; is it a good idea to treat it with copper in the quarantine tank or not as a preventative measure (appears to be healthy)? If it is a good idea, what copper level should I strive for ?

Thanks everyone for you patience and input.

Allen
I would treat with coppersafe, always. Angels do fine in copper of slowly increased.

What test kit should be used with the coppersafe?

Allen
Most anything other than seachem and sailifert. API worked for me

Hey everyone. I recently purchased an emperor angel. As he is right at that stage where he is changing quickly I was wondering how much it would affect the outcome of his change if he did not get much sponge matter in his diet. I know that nutrition is very important to the change but he doesn't seem to get much of the frozen preperations that I put in that include sponge. They don't work very well with some of the piggy fish that I have in my tank. I was also wondering if it would be a crazy idea to just put some form of sponge in there just for him to eat.

Would a Coral Beauty and a small snowflake moray be compatible?
They should be compatible, the snowflake is more of a crustacean eater than a fish eater, that being said they have poor vision and can be a little overzealous at feeding, so accidents can happen.

Does anybody know if you have a male true Japanese swallow mask tail. Keep him without a female will he or could he turn back to female? I'm putting him in with a female but if they don't get along. I will remove female and wanted to know if he will change sex.

I've heard it is possible that a male can revert back to a female but haven't found any confirmed experiences of it happening. I've had a large female for a couple years. This past week my original larger female has begun it transition to a male. Everyday I can see more of the transformation. I've made sure the size of the new two females were at least a 1/3 smaller than the main female. Even though the first moment all three saw each other the original attacked the smaller two. Which I prepared an acclimation box with two compartments for the smaller females. The aggression has lessoned each day as the alpha transitions.
The original female never showed her a hint of transition over 2 years by herself. So if your male reverts back to a female it will probably stay that way until anther female is introduced. But I haven't met many people who have seen the transition in either direction so experience from others seems to be limited.

Thanks @eatbreakfast! It's my first dwarf angel, but even well-fed, I kept losing any 6-line wrasses. Went through 3 before giving up. I'm sure body shape and size are factors too.

My newly acquired Potter's Angel. Hard to get a good photo of, but I love this fish! He is proving to be coral friendly for me which was a concern. Not one quarrel with a tankmate yet either.

Here's my pair of venustus angelfish. One is 2" and the other is 2.2.5"

They are in this frag tank until I am ready to place them in their new home which will be a 75 gallon tank.
They are doing great and they are eating anything I offer. It took a lot of TLC but they are eating anything I throw at them.
