The Angel Lovers Thread

In the second picture where they are in two separate QT tanks, was that when you first got them? The big one sure looks like a flag-fin in that picture and the smaller one looks like a Gold Flake. Now they both look like flag-fins to me, but I'm no expert.

Yes, first picture is the day I got them. There were special orders and they were never taken out of the shipping bag in the store.

just add a pair of trigger fish to my angle tank

It’s a flame angel with hypermelanistic trait. Normally the aberrants are hypomelanistic which lacks the black. This is the first one I’ve seen and a few other professionals out there.
Can you give us an estimate of how many Flame Angel you have seen in your lifetime?
Thanks for posting about this fish.

Give us some history on that pair. Where did you get them? How long have they been together? Etc.

Two of my Flame Angels. A male and a female. Finished with QT. Both doing well and eat aggressively. I am taken them to my office this AM. I had a pair there before but I took them home to form a harem in my DT. This is it for Flame Angels for me. The first picture really show the different fins shape between Male, on top and female on the bottom. They were un-sexed Juveniles 6 weeks ago. Still very small. Male only about 1.75 inches including the tail. Female is about 1.5 .inches. They are in a cut out 1 gal milk container.
