I've been considering buying a new light, I want one that is more reliable and I can better control. I'm not looking for the option that necessary preforms the best, I'm looking for the best option that meets the following criteria:
- Effect on coral and other photosynthetic livestock
- Spread (how many units you need) (My tank is 36 long x 18 wide x 12 tall)
- Price (consider the amount of units)
- Controller Capacity
- Dependability and longevity
- Cosmetic Lighting (How good does the lighting look)
Any other factors you guys think are important. I'm looking to spend under $500 to light the whole tank (preferably less than $400). I'm currently running some cheap asian light that preforms decently, growing everything from softies to SPS but it also seems to have a spectrum that is just what algae wants (lot of green and white) and I don't really have a ton of control over the spectrum. Any recommendations would be great.

What about a pair of AI Prime HD's. Two will cover that footprint perfectly and are WiFi Controllable right out of the box via android or apple app. And you can literally control each color individually. And a pair comes in right at your $400 price point :)

Pretty much this.

we have dsuny lights over a 90g. They light up the entire length of the tank and width with 4 panels. Seem to be doing a really nice job.

They are expensive and we did have on panel that failed after a year. (looked like cold solder joint)

with the tank being that shallow I think the AI primes HD will be perfect for what you want. Great mounting options, controlability, expandable for upgrades in the future, and dead on your preferred price.
