Hi All!
Does anybody have an opinion on the best PID Temperature controller and probe for reef aquarium use? I've read the PID Temp Controllers are far superior to the "normal" ones offered to the hobby because they are much better at keeping the temps stable (good ones keep the temp within 1/2 a degree F up or down I'm told. From what I've read, you can get a bunch of different types of temperature probes for them, but I don't know which is best for a saltwater environment. The "K" type probe is highly praised for accuracy, but it is made of nickel and I am not sure if it's OK for a reef tank. I could coat it in a saltwater resistant material, but again, I'm not sure if that would adversely affect its performance.
I would use it as the primary temp controller with my Apex as a fail-safe.
Any insight would be very much appreciated!
Thanks,
Joe Mac
