Has anyone ever had a cool idea for an upgrade, repeatedly bought things trying to make it work, spent more money than you normally would on other hobbies and then found out that the idea was never meant to work in the first place? How does one find the bright side to failures and missing money?

It all depends on your outlook! What is knowledge and perseverance worth? As long as I learn something, my failures are never a waste. Often the more painful a lesson, the more likely I'll not repeat it. This applies especially to transient things, like money and time :]

sharing your experiences with other hobbyists here on R2R!

they say you should learn from your mistakes, but its much easier to learn from someone elses lol
