I love them, and the Chaetodon baronessa. Maybe one day we will be able to keep those guys thriving long term.

I had a pair in quarantine that died to lymphocystis, which spread from a moorish idol. I wish I didn't add the moorish idol. They were eating clams

I love those rainford's and the bennet's. The red sea bannerfish, threadfin, and golden also look great!

No aggression between the 3 rainfords?

Moorish are such an awesome tankmate for butterflies though!

I will add that I lost my capistratus though. Even though it would pick at some food, it never really ate well, and mostly hid, even when separated from any potentially aggressive fish. Never was quite right. Yesterday I came home from work and it was dead, no signs of disease, nothing abnormal on necropsy, not even thin.

LPS? As in the coral? Not currently since they're in quarantine with copper. Right now everyone but the xanthurus eats NLS pellets, and everyone eats mysis, brine, clam on the half shell, and will pick at nori.

Honestly I think the ephippium, pelewensis, and citrinellus would eat bread if I threw it in there...

No aggression at all. The bannerfish chase a little. They mainly feed on spectrum pellets. Thanks

Yes, the lunulatus eats NLS. Picks them off the bottom. Ephippium came from on of my LFS, as did all the others. I have about 4 stores within 2 hrs of my house that I buy fish from.

It’s interesting how much the hobby has grown as most of the butterflies people are keeping used to be seen as impossible and shouldn’t even be imported.

But, as much as I want an Ephippium or Triangulum I think this guy would disagree. Also, any ideas of this is flavissimus or longirostris?

I’m leaning towards flavissimus but have a small hope it could be a longirostris.

I just have the raccoon, copperband and long nose. The long nose and raccoon can be aggressive to the copperband especially at feeding.

Forcipiger flavissmus. You can tell by the eyes, longirostris have nearly completely dark eyes while the eyes of flavissmus are more half-dark half- light.

Should have 0 issues with ephippium or triangulum. Butterflies usually don't bother other tankmates, unless they eat the same exact food source in the wild, or don't have enough caves for each to have their old hiding spot.

That flavissimus looks thin though, and the pectoral fins look pretty nipped. I'd watch carefully for signs of aggression from one of the current tankmates and separate asap.

This is one of the fish on my list of wants. I really want to attempt this species. I've had success with a few different obligates in the past, and this is one of my favorite species.
