Hello members,

I hope this post could be used as a greeting that sparks some interest among you, and also provides some valuable feedback on the Chirihos Doctor. I ran across an advertisement on this electronic device that is suppose to help control algae, harmful disease causing organisms, and enhance the growth of fish, shrimps, and plants. Yet, how effective is it?
There are numerous good and bad reviews online causing a real interest in myself ( and hopefully to other members, too) to learn more about its Reliability, and Effectiveness.

Those of you who have had hands on experience with this device, could share your feedback here. Your feedback would be an additional source of interesting enrichment to not only myself, but also this R2R forum.

Thank you in advance for sharing your experience!

Is this for a planted tank? So it appears to run an electrical current over some metal underwater to cause redox reaction. Nothing about how it works sounds appealing.

Well I will take it as a greeting sense I know nothing about the product.Welcome and good luck.

Will be interesting to hear some viewpoints.

Any update ?

The Chihiros Doctor and similar products have been around for years in the planted tank community. I tried one once, and in my well maintained tank it did next to nothing that I could see. They are great if you ever wished your aquarium looked like it was filled with seltzer

They fizz oxygen and/or ozone into the water. As of the last time I cared enough to research them, it was difficult to get a straight answer from the manufacturers as to exactly what they did. That was several years ago, so the answer might be more clear by now.

As far as I know are only used in FW tanks. There is a metal reactor plate that I would not put into a marine tank. The plates wear out and need to be replaced.

For reef use, look into Oxydators. They are a more reliable slow release tool that uses a peroxide reaction to increase O2 levels and ORP.
