I'm not sure of the proper name, but I purchased a grabber, claw with a pistol grip to move things around and place corals and frags. I like this tool to avoid my arm in the tank when possible. The one recommended to me had a metal spring and rod inside that rusted, and I would have expected that had I know. Since it was recommended to use with a marine tank, I would not expect it that rust, lesson learned.

With that said, can you kindly list some similar tools you like to use. This one was nice since the claw was round on each side that allowed me to grab a mounted frag by the bottom and go around the coral. I've seen some other tools for trimming but are more like scissors or the claw is too small to actually grab a frag for gentle or precision placement.

I like a good tool so appreciate the help. Hope everyone is doing well...

Not familiar with the grabber, but I would like to share a similar issue I had with you. The marine algae scrapers, suppose to come with a stainless steel blade so it doesn't rust. I noticed spots of rust on my blade, took the cover off and the whole thing is rusted out. Pretty crappy for a marine algae scraper. Didn't even try cleaning it or replacing the blade, tossed it in the trash.

So that you're aware stainless steel is not entirely rust proof. It's just a chromium steel blend that is resistant to rust. In all reality it is stain-less steel.

I got one of these through Amazon. It's 16" long from tip to tip. It's the longest, precision tool I could find. Merry Christmas everyone!

I had the scraper only a month, you'd expect stainless steel to last a little longer then that though lol :D

Let's not make excuses :) If it was Stain-Less I would be fine with that. But we all know how they push that and there are different levels of quality, in addition, if you don't remove any dirt, that's where the stain will start on the less staining material :)

Here is the first one I got, not the one referenced above. Has a cutter also for those pruning jobs (Xena or Kenya anyone?). I've not used it to cut, used to remove molts or other things from the tank.

Big G I like that tool you shared. I may have to add that to my box :)

I found these also, still looking (at lest this one says rust resistant :) ):

And here is the one I purchased initially, but from my LFS repackaged. I will be sure to give some feedback :)
