I bit the bullet and bought a small Marineland canister filter. PetSmart had it listed for $139 but they price match. I found it on Amazon for about $74 and I had a 20% off coupon. Final cost was around $40, plus or minus. I took the bioballs out and put in some live rock from my tank. I also poured in a bottle of live Tisbe pods. I also left the carbon in and will put purigen where the one of the filter pads sits. Question.... in order to make this a pod farm of sorts, should I remove the fine filter pad, the course one, or both?

I figured I’d just disconnect it if it didn’t do what I intend. I can always use it as an occasional polishing filter.

Ideas or opinions?
