First & foremost... I REALLY post a ton of threads. I'm sorry. : /

Okay, so today I am FINALLY going to go to Hartselle to check out that shoppe that supposedly does saltwater. I will report back with an analysis, accompanied with pictures. Cross your fingers!

Also, I visited Michael Mason's place near Huntsville Hospital yesterday. He runs what is left of his shoppe out of his house. He has quite a bit of supplies & live rock that he sells pretty cheaply, along with some fish & frags. He also accepts debit & credit cards. I bought some rock, sand & a powerhead from him yesterday & FINALLY got my tank on the road to cycling! As of right now it's almost filled completely up & I shall post pictures of that when I get home, as well. Excuse me while I flail around with joy.

That is my update. I shall now get dressed, pack up the baby & head to Hartselle in hopes of good news for us all.

Good luck!! Can't wait to see some pics!! (Including one of you flailing around in joy!!) ;)

Oh wow, really? That's no good... I don't remember his address but his e-mail address is [email protected]. He seems like he's been extremely busy lately so I'm sure he wouldn't mind if you just sent him a little reminder! : )

So, the shoppe wasn't half bad. The saltwater selection was a little small, but all the livestock looked brilliant. They had a very large display tank that was quite beautiful with an OCTOPUS in it... It was pretty neat. They had a decent amount of supplies although some of it looked a little old. They had some basic Fiji live rock but it didn't really have any color to it... It was about $6 a pound if I remember correctly. The prices seemed fair and they had signs up saying that they could order fish that they didn't have in stock. I was overall impressed, but I don't think it was really worth the drive.

However, they had lots of other pets as well, including a good amount of freshwater fish, rabbits, hamsters, mice, chinchillas, snakes, all kinds of reptiles & hedgehogs... Not to mention a decent variety of birds.

If you are in the area, it is definitely worth checking out! The employees were quite nice.

The store is called Clippity Doo Dogs. I'll post pictures when I get home.

And I thank you again for Mike's info, he made things right.

Also, thank you for looking into the Hartselle shop. Looking forward to the pictures!.

Well, here are the pictures!

I hope everyone enjoyed my pictures! : D
If you find yourself in the area, definitely check out the shoppe.

Uh oh. Excuse my ignorance. What do you mean?

Be careful, flailing around with joy while undressed might have consequences which will further reduce your tank budget.

Is that octopus housed in an upside-down critter keeper weighted down with a rock? Clever use I had not seen before.

It looks like a nice, clean shop, but I wish they would stop spamming Craigslist. Paradise Aquatics did the same thing, and contributed to my never stopping by. In my opinion, misusing free ad space should not be part of the marketing plan of a reputable business. There appear to be at least 2 other people selling frags and fish on craigslist. My apologies if they're reputable people who are NARC members -- everyone I've met with NARC has been great! But, if they are here, they might find it useful to know the perception they're creating, at least for some.

No Emilies were harmed today, LOL!

I agree about the Craigslist thing... It's sad that some businesses rely on free ad space instead of using the proper means to advertise their business. I'm right there with you!

I use craigslist to trade and sell some of my frags...but I'm just a hobbyist with a 60 gallon tank and a 3'' by 10'' eggcrate frag rack...lol
I find its a nice to meet other local reefers because before this past weekend I wouldn't have met anyone in the Bham area if it wasn't for good ol craigslist

This is a business who spams Craigslist as their sole form of advertising. There is a huge difference between hobbyists that use Craigslist sell their spare things & businesses who abuse it.

I absolutely love Craigslist, as I have gotten quite a few things at amazing prices!

agree

I too have found many good deals and a few weirdos and scam artists.

And I believe it's perfectly fine for a local frag selling business, pet store, breeder, etc. to put a post in services / pet. (though they still shouldn't keyword spam).

hard rock? are you meaning that it looks like diy concrete and oyster shell mix? I didn't see any fiji or pukani rock in there it looked like diy base rock , but i might have missed something

I think he meant it looked like a scene from The Little Mermaid.

Emily, you keep making threads, we'll keep derailing them. :bounce:

I have two other threads I want to post but I'll wait. We don't need every single thread on the first 5 pages to all be made by me!
