The Digi Forest

I cleaned up some of the tank's walls using my trusty tool:

And I wanted a video but Tapatalk isn't behaving... So here's a photo:

Sweet tank! I really like the all digi idea!

I'm normally not a fan of any kind of bow front, but this half cylinder actually looks pretty cool.

Thanks! Unfortunately the tank is still in recovery mode, but I'll eventually get it back on track.

Well, big news.. I just backed The Mindstream Kickstarter as a US Beta Tester. I am looking forward to this experience!

Heck yeah! I just did a quick google skim to see what it can supposedly do, and it sounds sweet! You'll have to let us know what you think.

I just signed up too, can't wait!
I changed my pledge for December instead of being a US Beta Tester (Oct debut). I don't feel trading a year's quantity of Discs is worth getting the unit sooner.

I was hoping the Beta Testers would still get a year's worth of Discs, but my Facebook and Kickstarter messages have gone unanswered, even though Facebook indicates that they've seen my message. This concerned me enough to switch, and if they respond in the way I hope I'll switch back to Beta Tester.

It's been a bit of a frustrating month or so. Ever since the switch to the faux bed, my tank has still not recuperated.

Since the switch, I lost:

- Both cleaner shrimps, which REALLY bugs me.
- A bunch of Digi frags (Half gallon's worth).
- Unrelated (I think) but I lost my Maxima clam just two days ago.

The only silver lining is that the fish look absolutely stunning. I'll just hold the LRS Herbivore Frenzy responsible for that. God they love that stuff.

Other issues:

- The faux bed still looks like hell. I have no hair algae, but the faux bed is still, what I would call in terms of looks, pre-cured.

- Only my German Blue and Purple Digis look good. The rest still look like hell, even though there hasn't been recession in about a month plus.

- The Zoos look good. Some are looking a bit off, but nothing that I am worried about.

- The Blue Squamosa and the Derasa still look great. I would be devastated if I lost either one of these.

This all bothers me because of the sheer amount of consistency that I keep with the water. I test Alk, Mag, Cal, Nitrates, Phosphates, Salinity, and pH weekly! All parameters have been rock solid.

If this crappy trend continues I am going to rip it all out, keep some of the stuff and all clams, plus fish, and ditch the faux bed. How annoying.

I cut out a piece of acrylic about the size of my tank floor, resined marine gravel to it, and use it as my floor for the tank.

Dang man sorry to hear about the issues. I wonder what's going on with your corals if all your parameters are good? Lighting. flow, etc.??

Thanks guys

What bothers me most is that most of the corals are growing (But refuse to regrow in certain spots on their skeleton). I see growth tips but colors look either drab or slightly pale compared to before the faux bed move.

Lighting is where it is supposed to be at (I consistently use my friends PAR meter), and flow could be the issue.

I been playing with flow for months, but I honestly believe it's not the issue. With variable Tunzes, I've got the power and form. The corals that are okay are quite happy, I just have some balding issues on some frags that refuse to regrow, nor grow algae (If there was still a problem.. I would expect this).

Since I do Carbon dose with Vinegar, I did decide to throw in a reactor with Rox 0.8. I started with about 1/2 cup and will see from there.

Today I performed a water change and super cleaned the tank walls. I feel a lot better after the fact. I'll wait and see for now, but I hope to see some better results soon.

Hey Paul, the tank is chugging along but I am still not allowed to put weight on my feet. Things I can't do:

- Water changes: This bugs me the most. I desperately want to do a water change but simply can't. At the earliest, I'll be walking again in two weeks. This is killing me. I really want to do these changes!

- Wall scraping: Being a bit of a neat freak, this is a monster pet peeve of mine. I try to use the magnet on it, but some things just don't come off.

- Equipment installation: I bought a Sea Swirl, and want to install already. Oh well. I also will need to change out my Tunze 6105 for a 6095.. Once the Sea Swirl is installed.

Anyway on top of the above, I am still in pain at late night. It's driving me crazy.. But its slowly going away.

So that's about it. Just a waiting game!

Oh! I started a new thread for the new version of the tank. Had Hydroids, restarted. Linky in my signature!
