In the process of cycling a 90 gal dt with 30 gal sump. I started on June 18 with 60 lb of dry pucani after 4 weeks of "curing" I saw no more detritus coming off the rock so I Did a 100% water change, washed the rock , constructed my aquascape, and added 60 lb of live sand and refilled. The first picture is of my parameters just prior to the water change. The second picture is today. The tank is digesting 2ppm ammonia (Api) over a 24 hour period. My issue is that the nitrites don't seem to be coming down. Am I just being impatient or is there reason to be concerned? I did add some bacteria in a bottle after the water change in an attempt to "replenish" any that might have been lost during the water change process. I realize that that was not necessary. It was a feel good maneuver. I had been running the protein skimmer till a few days ago. The skimmer is now off Once thing to consider is that my ORP runs low 200's. Is it possible that the nitrifying bacteria are not working because of the low ORP? Do I just need to chill out???
