Hey all,
I have question I'm hoping to get some advice on. I have recently added a coral beauty to my tank ( and she's gorgeous ) but I think I might see a tiny white dot on her right side of her fin. Now there's just the one and I'm not sure if it's nothing or possibly ich! I do not see any other dots on her or any of the other fish but it's there. I tried so hard to take a photo to show you guys but she is so friggin fast and extremely camera shy ‍. But I did my best with trying to show where is it. I called my LFS and they told me if looks like ich it probably is and I should dose my tank bc it's very contagious and the medicine isn't harmful. Soooo, my question is do you think I should and what is the best medicine out there for ich?? Thanks guys!

If it were me, I would start by observing the fish carefully over the next few days. A single spot on a fin could be something as harmless/benign as a calcium deposit. If you notice additional spots over time or the angel (or any other fish) starts rubbing on the rocks/sand/glass or flashing and making erratic bursts then you know your dealing with a parasite. Ich is actually easier to deal with than velvet but both have many of the same symptoms and velvet is often misdiagnosed as ich but kills much quicker, so you'll want to read up on both diseases and make a plan for treatment.

Ok thank u for the info, I will look into velvet more

I ich manage I would never suggest it to anyone it's what I do but if you have no other option the best thing is onservation feed the hell out of them with decent food I use frozen mysis and marine cuisine with selcon it's all about keeping the fishies fat and healthy good immune system every fish I add gets it and deals with it and then I don't see it again until I add a new fish.

Thank you. There was one day in the beginning that her appetite was a little low but for the past 6-7 days now Big Ang has been little shark lol I feed them all frozen mysis and I'm not as worried now the more I read bc I think as long as she keeps up this healthy appetite she will be ok.
Fingers crossed

That's good if it is ich and you have to manage and your adding more fish leave a good moth or so between adding make sure the ones you buy are eating really well at the lfs because food is your friend here and a non stressful environment so make sure you don't add or do anything that causes stress this can be anything from large temp swing to sg swing or incompatible fish etc good luck it can be done and a lot of people do whether they admit it or not.

Watch for flashing in the fish (scraping on rocks or sand to itch itself) its important to know if ich is in your display its there unless treated. Healthy fish with thick slime coats may not show sypthoms and can be somewhat “immune” to ich but make no mistake it’s still there. Additions of new fish or stress in the tank can cause an outbreak at anytime affecting even fish that were ich free before. Keep us updated on your fishes being so we can help if this is the case :) #reefsquad

Just use copper power , 3/4 of the recommended instructions on the label in a quarantine tank for 3-4 weeks.. and observe..

I think I saw in another of the OP posts that there's is no qt or the possibility for one hence the alternate advice

It's difficult to see in the photo, but that looks too large and elongated to be ich. As I think was stated by another, watch the spot for a couple of days. If it doesn't disappear, and if new spots don't start showing up elsewhere - it isn't ich. I can tell you this isn't velvet (Amyloodinium). The fact that the fish is feeding well is a great sign.

Thanks everyone! It turned out not to be ich! Just a small calcium growth that was part of him! Everyone is doing good =)
