10 years in the game and after getting so much advice and guidance from reading R2R threads, here i am...about time right!? Long story short, I finally have my dream tank! (well, for now)

- Red Sea 525 G2
- 2 Neptune SKYs
- Red Sea ReefMat 1200
- DC Red Sea Skimmer 600
- Red Sea ATO +

Love having everything under the Red Sea ecosystem and app (minus the lighting & ATO resevoir), just makes things easier. This time around I went with ocean live rock vs. dry for the insta-tank effect...and also wanted to avoid the Dinos nightmare I had with my previous tank. I started that tank with bare dry rock and ran it way too clean which led to my nitrates and phos. bottoming out and eventually dinos. So even though I almost instantly had a bryopsis outbreak this time (treating with flucanozole), I like that I'm starting right off with the biodiversity that ocean live rock brings. I feel the benefits outweigh the risks. Think I'm going with a mixed reef so open to fish and coral stocking suggestions. Anyone have any luck with Blue Throat Triggers? I hear they are one of the few triggers that are reef safe?

You should start a Tank Thread so we can keep up with your build and watch it evolve over time. You would also get a cool Tank Thread badge under your name!
Thanks, will do that for sure. Want that fancy badge!

I had a male blue throat that was an absolute jerk lol see video below.
I got rid of him and got a female instead. She seems fine.
Overall reef safe with my corals, clams, shrimp, snails and urchins. No issues.
Not the brightest colored fish compared to tangs and angels but adds to biodiversity.

Welcome. I joined two years ago as @HankstankXXXL750 and then added this account for my sponsorship. I joined for free as every time I googled a question about my reef I was sent here. Found the people to be both helpful and friendly so I became a supporting member, then a partner member and now I’m even a sponsor. I wish to help keep this forum available for everyone. Thanks for coming aboard.

Hm, when did you add him to the tank relative to your other fish? I was actually thinking of a small tang gang but wanted to avoid the aggression so that’s why I was thinking the blue throat. Guess I need to rethink that lol.

He was added at the end of the stocking cycle.
I currently have 3 tangs in my 120. The trigger completely ignores them. Sometimes the female blue throat will chase my male Blue Star Leopard Wrasse.
